In a move to stop Wisconsin from paying 1.5 million to retire Lake Superior Commercials, five Wisconsin Sportfishing Clubs passed resolutions to withhold support for Wisconsin's fishing license fee increase proposal if the state used the segregated sport fish fund account for payment.

Many Illinois anglers use Goby as bait

An Illinois rule change proposal , if approved, will now make it illegal to: use, transport or possess round, and tubenose Gobies . The use of living gobies (round, tube nosed) as bait will be prohibited.

Like the other exotic species that have invaded the Great Lakes in recent decades, gobies have become a permanent part of the ecosystem; they are too numerous and too widespread to control.
