Quantum® Hypercast® Trigger Reels Get New Look and Features No other trigger-spinning reels on the market offer the never-touch-the-line and open-the bail-in-any-position versatility of Hypercast®. And new for 2004 are two Hypercast series that have been streamlined, made lighter and designed better to deliver unprecedented performances - the Hypercast Ultra HPX 4-bearing series and the Hypercast Ultra HPL 3-bearing family.
Whether skipping baits, finesse fishing, drop shotting or simply fishing in cold weather with gloves on, you can't beat the Hypercast trigger system. This exclusive trigger design allows the unique freedom of never having to touch the bail or line to cast, and the bail can be opened in any position.
The Hypercast Ultra series utilizes a patented Firing Pin™ mechanism to pick up the line automatically, eliminating fumbling fingers while trying to get a hurried cast back into a honey hole of biting fish. The patented Firing Pin mechanism on Quantum Hypercast reels grabs the line and holds it until you release the cast.
Hypercast's Aluminum Long Stroke® spool ensures free line flow during the cast and smooth retrieves. These reels are the only trigger-spinning reels with Continuous Anti-Reverse™. Continuous Anti-Reverse prevents the handle from turning backwards on a hook set or during retrieve; the handle stops dead in its tracks. This eliminates unwanted slack in the line, as well as allows a fast and sure hook set. An over-sized Twist Reducer™ line roller helps prevent line twist.
Both the HPX and the HPL series consist of three models in the same sizes: The 10-size holds 125 yds of 4 lb. test line, the 20-size holds 140 yds of 6 lb. test line and the 30-size holds 160 yds of 8 lb. test. All models come in right or left hand retrieve.
Hypercast Ultra HPX Features include: ♦ Hypercast Trigger system ♦ 4 bearing system ♦ Continuous Anti-Reverse ♦Aluminum Long Stroke spool ♦ Oversized Twist-Reducer line roller ♦ TRU-Balance rotor design
Hypercast Ultra HPL Features include: ♦ Hypercast Trigger system ♦ 3 bearing system ♦ Continuous Anti-Reverse ♦ Aluminum Long Stroke spool ♦ Oversized Twist-Reducer line roller ♦ TRU-Balance rotor design
♦ HPX10/HPL10: 125 yds/4 lb capacity ♦ HPX20/HPL20: 140 yds/6 lb capacity ♦ HPX30/HPL30: 160 yds/8 lb capacity
Quantum invented the Hypercast design to bring casting simplicity to a new level. This exclusive trigger system opens the bail in any position – no need to self-center the bail. Hypercast Ultra reels use a patented Firing Pin mechanism to pick up the line automatically so you don’t have to. Hypercast reels are the only trigger reels with Continuous Anti-Reverse. Just pull the trigger and cast…it’s that fast and easy!
With Continuous Anti-Reverse action control, when you stop cranking the rotor stops on a dime. No slack line. No shock. No loss of energy. You react, the reel reacts. Bang. You’ve set the hook.
HPX HPL Right hand Left hand
The HPX sells for about $39.95 The HPL (left hand) sells for about $29.95
Both the HPX and HPL reel are also available in combos with matching IM6 graphite rods. The HPX combos retail for about $49.95; the HPL combos sell for about $39.95.

Quantum® Cabo™ PT™ and Boca™ PT™ Spinning Reels Destined for Saltwater and Big Lake Glory Like their revolving spool cousins of the same name, the new Quantum® Cabo™ and Boca™ PT™ Saltwater spinning series are also built with the Saltgard™ suit of armor, offering six- layers of corrosion protection. But what really sets these spinning reels apart from the pack is their exclusive TiMAG Salt bail system.
The TiMAG Salt difference means an over-sized bail wire of nickel titanium, allowing it to flex, bend and turn, meaning it won't get bent out of shape. Plus, the bail is lighter and more resistant to corrosion than traditional steel bails. In fact, the bail is so good, it's guaranteed for life. So it's adios to steel bail reels.
Also, say goodbye to traditional bail springs which, over time, corrode and hang up. Found at the heart of the trip mechanism instead in Cabo and Boca spinning reels are epoxy- coated magnets that don't wear out or corrode. Strong magnets are also used in the MAGLOK™ anti-reverse system to deliver zero back play in the handle and rotor, and again are more resistant to corrosion than traditional clutch systems.
A solid one-piece aluminum frame and side cover round out the Cabo and Boca's strength characteristics. In battle, the one-piece stainless steel screw-in handle and oversized power knob allow for increased cranking power. And all Cabo and Boca PT reels come with a neoprene reel bag and wrench/knot tool.
The Cabo PTi family includes the CSP30PTS and CSP40PTS models with 8 bearings and 5:2:1 gear ratios.
They retail for $189.95 ea

Energy® PT™-XMetal™ Baitcast Reel Exceptional features Offers Tuned Precision Brilliantly engineered and tougher than a bull redfish, the new Energy PT -XMetal baitcast reel is built for the rigors of serious fishing.
First of all, these reels have all the proven and unique features of the PT - Performance Tuned - family: Special gears, special bearings and special lubrication that doesn't wear or wash off. In fact, XMetal reels have a Polymer-stainless hybrid 8-bearing system. A system that is custom matched to PT gears made by a proprietary manufacturing process that uses special alloys to increase gear hardness. A process that means smooth-edged gears for smooth gear performance over the life of the reel.
X-Metal has all of these attributes, plus aluminum side covers that are married precisely with a machined single piece aluminum frame that holds all of the working components of the reel in perfect alignment. And a housing that is sealed with a scratch-resistant vacuum deposition coating for a durable and long-lasting finish.
There's also the Quantum® ACS™ II Cast Control that utilizes a high performance centrifugal braking system. An external dial allows convenient brake management by turning the control to one of nine settings, or turning the brakes off completely for the ultimate in free spool performance. Whatever the brake setting, this reel allows the opportunity to adapt to any fishing condition.
Quantum's Zero-play Continuous Anti-Reverse™ provides a no-nonsense approach to eliminating slack line and flubbed hook sets. When the handle stops, the spool stops.
A ceramic drag system helps to dissipate heat and eliminate swelling of the drag washers to ensure drag settings don't "wander." The XMetal's exclusive Maxcast™ Titanium bonded skeletal spool reduces weight and allows air circulation around the line, helping it to dry quicker and promoting line life longevity.

Feature Titanium Bails
Whether trying to coax a walleye from the depths with a minnow-tipped jig or attempting to finesse a bass out from under the boat dock with a creature bait, the new Quantum® Energy-PTi™ puts the advantage on the angler's side.
Energy PTi spinning reels are built with all the same features found in the originally - Performance Tuned - spinning families. Plus come with something different: The unique and proven combo of Quantum's proprietary TiMAG II™ titanium bail system and magnetic bail trip.
The TiMAG II features the industry's only nickel-titanium bail wire with its inherent super- elastic properties that keep it from bending or breaking. A bent or broken bail wire is a spinning reel's most common problem. The nickel-titanium bail is also lighter and thinner than steel, and more corrosion proof. In fact, the Quantum bail system has such a proven reliability factor that Energy PTi reels come backed by a lifetime bail warranty.
Broken bail springs aren't an issue with these reels either, because they use a multi-pole magnetic bail trip instead of springs. This spring-free magnetic system accurately and consistently positions the bail properly for casting.
Energy PTi reels use a polymer stainless-steel hybrid 10-bearing system that is custom matched to its special PT gears. There's also an unmatched super-low-friction Continuous Anti- Reverse™ clutch system. The reel is topped off with a ceramic drag system in which ceramic washers replace traditional steel washers to help dissipate heat and eliminate swelling. No swelling means the drag system stays concisely dialed in right where the angler set it. And since the spool is supported by PT bearings at both ends, the drag is able to perform smooth and consistent just like it's supposed to.
The Energy PTi's custom mechanics are housed in a ThinLine™ aluminum body. And a Titanium vacuum-deposition scratch-resistant coating ensures a long-lasting finish for years to come.
The Energy PTi Spinning family consists of the E10PTi with a line capacity of 125 yards of 4 lb test, the E20PTi that holds 140 yards of 6 lb line, and the E30PTi with its 160 yard capacity of 8 lb line. Gear ratio for each model is a quick 5.2:1. Every PTi reel comes with a spare spool

PT Rods: For everything from 10 lb. Bass to 100 lb. Tarpon
The right Taper for the Job
To get just the right feel for any conditions you face, we worked closely with our pro advisors like Kevin VanDam and Shaw Grigsby as well as guides from coast to coast. It resulted in our most highly customized blank tapers every.
It starts with a Great Blank
All PT rod blanks are crafted one at a time and guaranteed for life. Tour Edition Pt blanks use 62 million modulus graphite for the ultimate in lightweight sensitivity. Cabo PT inshore rods use high-strength graphite while our trolling rods use a special carbon/E-glass composite for extreme lifting power.
Premium Guides
Tour Edition PT and Cabo PT inshore rods use advanced Fuji Alconite concept guides that are up to 35% lighter than standard guides. They’re also harder which means reduced wear and much lower friction for improved casting performance. Cabo PT Offshore and Trolling rods use either genuine Aftco roller guides or Heavy Duty Fuji guides to protect lines from the heat effects of long battles.
The Best Reel Seats and Handles
PT rods feature premium Fuji reel seats to add even more sensitivity to our blanks. Grips are custom shaped from the best grades of cork, EVA and Hypalon.
Butts of Steel
Not satisfied with off-the-shelf aluminum or plastic options, Quantum engineers developed the industry’s only stainless steel rod butts for our beg game trolling rods. The new Armorglide Butt combines unmatched durability and corrosion protection.
High-quality Wraps
We use only genuine Gudebrod thread, painstakingly laid by hand for a professional look that stands the test of time. Each wrap is coated with multiple layers of epoxy then air cured for 24 hours to resist cracking and fading.

About Quantum® Salt water Reels
Titanium Coasting
To add more scratch and corrosion protection, we’ve treated the aluminum bodies of our new Energy PT spinning reels with a proprietary vacuum deposition coating that bonds titanium molecules to the base metal for an extremely dense, hard surface. The new energy PT-XM baitcast reel features a superlight titanium-bonded spool to increase casting performance and machined aluminum side covers for added strength and stability.
TiMAG II Bail
All PT spinning reels have the only bail system in the industry with a Nickel-Titanium bail wire that never gets bent out of shape. And unlike traditional bail springs, our magnetic bail trip will never weaken, corrode or wear out. In fact, this bail system is so reliable it comes with a lifetime warranty.
ACS II Braking
The world’s first and only externally adjustable centrifugal braking system gives you maximum casting control, regardless of lure weight or wind conditions. A total of 9 brake weights can be selected with just the click of a dial (no need to disassemble the reel, like conventional braking systems).
Withstanding the Salt Assault
We developed our own Saltgard six-layer finish. It starts with an anodized conversion coating that forms a dense molecular barrier on the aluminum. Two separate high temperature dip processes deposit a corrosion inhibitor in the microscopic pores of the aluminum protecting it from saltwater intrusion even if it’s scratched. The surface is then primer painted, followed by a base coast and a clear coat to provide additional protection and keep your reel looking its best.
Knock-down, Drag-out Drags
To handle fish capable of over 100-yard runs and hour-long fits, Quantum engineers developed the Pt magnum Ceramic drag system. Our ceramic discs (with matching stainless steel washers) provide a drag that maintains exact preset conditions because the ceramics will not swell even under extreme heat. Multiple, oversized drag washers in the front and rear of the Boca and Cabo spinning spools provide maximum contact area and help distribute pressure for very accurate and consistent performance. And the entire drag system is protected with a waterproof seal to keep the ocean at bay.
Maglok Anti-Reverse
Boca and Cabo spinning reels use our new MagLok anti-reverse system. Strong magnets replace conventional steel springs for zero backplay in the handle and rotor. This design is also far more corrosion resistant than traditional clutches.
Beefed-up Bail
Cabo and Boca spinning reels feature our newest TiMag Salt bails using oversized, Nickel-Titanium bail wire that never gets bent out of shape. Epoxy coated multi-pole magnets take the place of the bail spring that’s prone to corrosion and failure on ordinary reels.
Zero-flex Aluminum Frames
One-piece Pt reel frames are diecast and machined from a special aluminum alloy for unparalleled lightweight strength. Every detail is CNC machined to fit bearings, shafts, and gears precisely on each reel so the frame won’t flex even under heavy cranking.
Rock Solid Gears
Our oversized gear train provides the sensitivity to feel what’s going on under water and the brute force to give you the upper hand. Specialized alloys greatly increase gear hardness to reduce wear and provide excellent corrosion protection. Small batch CNC hobbing results in a smooth, fluid feel in every reel. Custom PT bearings support the entire gear system for a solid transmission. And it’s all powered by a forged, one-piece handle (stainless steel on spinning, aluminum on casting) that can handle anything.
